Today, as we commemorate the 127th Philippine Independence Day, we not only honor our forefathers who fought for our freedom but also salute the brave men and women who continue to uplift the nation—our Overseas Filipino Workers.
A Legacy of Bravery, Then and Now
On June 12, 1898, Our Philippine flag was first raised as a symbol of our people’s courage and collective will to be free. Today, that same bravery lives on—not on battlefields, but in airports, hospitals, construction sites, offices, hotels, and homes around the world. OFWs embody modern-day heroism, driven by hope, sacrifice, and love for family and country.
OFWs: The Heartbeat of the Global Filipino Community
There are over 10 million Filipinos abroad, working tirelessly to provide for their families and contribute to the Philippine economy. Despite being far from home, they remain deeply rooted in Filipino values: resilience, faith, hard work, and bayanihan . OFWs send more than just money—they send dreams. Dreams of education, home ownership, better lives, and a brighter future for the next generation.
The Cost of Sacrifice
Independence is not just about freedom from colonizers—it's about the ability to stand on our own, to thrive as a people. OFWs know this all too well. They sacrifice time with loved ones, miss important milestones, and endure homesickness—all to build a better life and support the economy.
Let’s not forget: their remittances helped keep the Philippine economy afloat even during global downturns, disasters, and pandemics.
Salamat, Kabayan, Mga Ka OFWs.
This Independence Day, let us give heartfelt thanks to our Bagong Bayani—our modern heroes. Whether you're a nurse in London, an engineer in Dubai, a domestic worker in Hong Kong, or a seafarer braving the open seas—you are the pride of the Philippines. Mula po sa Team ARC BIZ. Saludo po kami sa lahat ng pagsisikap nyo!
Mabuhay kayo. Mabuhay ang Pilipino. Mabuhay ang Kalayaan!
Wherever you are in the world today, raise your flag high. Wear your Barong, Filipiniana, or even just a simple red, white, blue, or yellow outfit. Share your #OFWIndependenceDay message and let the world know—we are proud to be Filipino.
